How to Change the Serpentine Belts on a Honda Civic

Serpentine belts are an essential part of your Honda Civic's engine. These belts connect various parts of your car's internal works, such as the engine block and the alternator, allowing the force created by the engine to be used in unlike tasks. When these belts wear out, they need to be replaced with new ones, which tin can be difficult if you accept never worked on an engine before. Removing the chugalug is actually quite a unproblematic task equally long as you lot know what to look for.

Step 1

Locate the chugalug tension commodities in your Honda Civic'south engine bay. This can be found on the bottom left of the alternator, right next to a section of the chugalug.

Stride 2

Place the belt tensioner on the commodities inside the engine bay and then turn information technology counterclockwise to loosen the chugalug. Continue turning it until you lot can hands movement the belt past hand.

Stride 3

Pull the old chugalug off of the engine pulleys manually and so discard information technology.

Stride 4

Place the new chugalug, grooved side down, onto the pulleys that the old belt was running forth.
